Bijan’s Resume

Bijan Ahmadian, the 101st President of the UBC’s student society, came to UBC in 1998 as an international student. Now a proud Canadian, he has completed his engineering physics degree and is in the third year of the joint MBA/law program. In addition, Bijan completed the Conflict Resolution Certificate at the Justice Institute of BC in 2004.

Very active in the UBC community, Bijan was a leader with Imagine UBC (UBC Vancouver orientation) from 1999 to 2002. During 2002/03, he ran the AMS Ombuds Office, which helps resolve conflicts between students and campus administration. From 2004 to 2007, Bijan served as the elected student representative of the faculty of applied science to the Senate, which deals with academic issues at UBC. From 2008 to 2010, Bijan served on the UBC Board of Governors. In 2008, he was the recipient of the prestigious Nestor Korchinsky Student Leadership Award, which recognizes sustained commitment to leadership and positive change at UBC.

In 2004, Bijan founded SmartWeb Canada with his family. The company provides website development solutions to small and medium-size businesses across Canada.

In his spare time, Bijan dances with StartDance in addition to the Vancouver Pars National Ballet, which is an Iranian folklore dance company.
